Choosing Your Fit: Slim, Regular or Loose

Choosing Your Fit: Slim, Regular or Loose

Every Vane Kensington suit is cut to your own measurements, but you also choose a fit preference — slim, regular or loose — which shapes how much ease sits around your body inside those numbers. Here's what each actually means on a suit.

Slim

A close, tapered cut through the chest, waist and trouser leg, with minimal excess fabric. Slim reads modern and structured, and suits a leaner build or anyone who prefers a suit that follows the body's line closely. The trade-off is less room for layering underneath and less forgiveness if your build changes.

Regular

A traditional, balanced cut with moderate ease through the chest and waist — comfortable to move in, without the closeness of a slim cut or the extra room of a loose one. Regular is the safest default for most builds and most occasions, from business to formal wear.

Loose

Generous ease through the chest, waist and trouser leg, prioritising comfort and room to move over a tapered silhouette. Loose suits a fuller build, anyone who prefers a relaxed drape, or those who want room to layer a jumper or waistcoat underneath.

How to decide

If you're unsure, regular is the right default — it's the most versatile across body types and occasions. Choose slim if you specifically want a closer, more structured silhouette; choose loose if comfort and room matter more to you than a tapered line. Whichever you choose, your fit preference is applied on top of your own measurements, not instead of them, so the suit is still cut to your specific proportions either way.
